Grandma’s 80th Birthday – The bus, let’s take the bus

Alright, this was D’s morning to enjoy breakfast solo with the family as I woke up feeling awful.  He enjoyed getting some time to chat with them.
Then I rallied and we headed up Oxford Street with Mercedes and Glen before splitting off to take the bus to Tower Hill to check out the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge.  This was D’s first double decker experience and it was a great way to see the sites without walking.
We opted to just walk around the Tower, which was fun with all the books that I read about Henry VIII by Philippa Gregory.  We were both feeling under the weather, so we just walked across the Tower Bridge and ate at the Bridge House.  Delicious, traditional English food with fresh, local ingredients.
Then we walked back to take the bus back to our hotel.  We drove thru Piccadilly Circus and stopped to pick up a few things near Oxford Circus.
We both wanted to rally, but in the end a nap sounded better.
For Grandma’s birthday dinner, we headed to The Only Running Footman as her favorite The Seashell had burned down a few months ago. We enjoyed great fish and chips plus singing a few rousing versions of Happy Birthday to Grandma before heading back for an early night.
