Happy Birthday, A! We started today walking through Luxembourg Garden which was on the way to have breakfast where A got her late night crepe on Tuesday night, but they were not making fresh crepes when we got there. So we went to La Deux Magots, a famous place for a prix fix continental breakfast with croissants, baguette and jams. We were charged 4 Euros instead of 40 for the meal, but given the costs of the trip so far and the fact that the waiter had already completed the credit card transaction, we called it a birthday present and left a large tip.
From there we wandered through the art district and went into a shop that had fun clown paintings. Turned out they were originals by a local painter and went for 2,500 to 3,500 Euros each. No clowns for us. From there we walked back to have crepes to go at the originally planned breakfast place and walked back to our hotel and shortly there after were off via the RER to the airport.
We had an uneventful flight except for both of our bellies were aching due to too much French food. We took the Heathrow Express to Paddington, where after some difficulties (confusion getting Pounds for the cab) traveled to the London Marriott, a very nice hotel near Grovesnor Square and the Mayfair area.
We met up with her grandparents at their hotel for dinner, but instead just had a nice chat as they had a long day of travel. Then dined back at our hotel. It was extremely expensive, but one of the best steak dinners either of us has ever had. The octopus was extremely tasty. We split a local ribeye and sirloin that were both excellent. They gave A a candle with her dessert. We sang happy birthday to here. A great way to end the evening.
