I wonder if it is wrong that I can find so much joy in our new washer & dryer by LG.
A few weeks ago, we knew our old washer was on its last leg. It had decided that filling intermittently was better than just filling. The old dryer had long decided that timed dry was the only cycle it liked. We replaced our kitchen faucet earlier this year ourselves after a plumber quoted us $300 to fix it or $500 to replace it, so we knew that two out of warranty machines wouldn’t be worth the headache of a service call.
We headed over to Home Depot and Best Buy to see if we could find something we liked. At Home Depot, the salesperson asked us if we could wait a few weeks as their Black Friday sales start two weeks before Thanksgiving. He thought the discount on the washer that we wanted could be up to 50% off, which of course would be worth the wait.
Best Buy had the same washer and dryer on sale that weekend, but it came nowhere near 50% off.
We went home empty handed and tried to figure out how we could make things work for two weeks without a functioning washer, including laundromat or wash and fold. Then I decided to try the washer on a different cycle to see if it would work on one cycle like the dryer.
Low and behold it filled on cold/cold and so we made it work for two weeks.
Last Thursday we got up really early to go to Home Depot to make the purchase. We were there before the doors opened and we are not those kind of wake up in the middle of the night shoppers, but money talks in this case and these were mega-sale and we needed them.
We get back to the appliance section, sit down with the guy and his system is down. So I jump on the app on my iPhone and make the purchase. Yes in the store and no we will not be doing that again. I think we are more Internet shoppers when it comes to sales like this.
We scored a Saturday delivery between 11 and 3. They were there by 11:30 and gone by 12:15 with everything installed and working. Major brownie points for Home Depot on that.
Now for the joy of the washer – silence! It is so quiet that you can’t tell it is running. The dryer is just as quiet, but what I love about the dryer is less wrinkles.
I guess you can find joy in a washer.
