Last weekend, we had the joy of celebrating with family as my cousin married the love of her life.
Marriage and weddings are not always given as much weight in our culture as they were in the past. Celebrities get divorced just as fast as they get married, but there is something so beautiful about watching two people who truly love each other get married.
Memorable for me was watching as the groom’s smile brightened as he saw the bride walk down the aisle with her father. There was just such pure joy in that moment.
I loved the vows that the selected including the line “I promise to act in your presence as I will in your absence.” There is such honor and respect in behaving together as you would apart.
They threw an awesome party with much dancing and festivities. It was great to share this beautiful day as a family.
I enjoy being married, knowing that I have a partner in crime to share in adventures as well as someone to catch me when I fall and better yet to laugh together. Of course, I strive to offer the same to my husband, it is a partnership after all.
This summer my husband and I celebrated our 8th anniversary and we look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries together.
