Today I am sitting at Peet’s while my hubby’s car is getting 4 new tires. Did I mention he got a nail in one of the tires? Bummer was the nail that happened while it was in my care last week, when I took it to nicely get it washed while he was traveling…
Since I do not currently have to go into the office every day, I offered to take it into get the hole patched. Of course when I get there, the technician lets me know that he cannot fix the hole in the tire, because the tires are well legally bald, great! And, his car happens to have tires called run flats, have you ever heard of these? If so, you know that they are expensive!
With me currently bringing in very little income, I asked the guy if there were other options. He mentions that 80-90% of his customers are moving to conventional tires as they last longer than run flats and are also less expensive. Wonderful news! Since it was still a big purchase, I went home and priced out the tires at other places and called my father-in-law to be sure that conventional tires would not affect the car. Turns out conventional tires are better all the way around, so I called the guy back in Millbrae and asked if he could do any better on the tires and low and behold he came down another $30 bucks and threw in alignment at no charge. Thanks Millbrae Tire & Auto Repair for making this purchase a little easier on the wallet!
This brings us back to today where I am sitting at Peet’s in Millbrae as they have free wi-fi and when you are spending lots of money that you don’t want to spend, free is good.
This Peet’s is pretty crowded and I felt lucky to snag a table when a couple got up right as my coffee was ready. I sat for awhile and this lovely woman asked if she could share the table with me. With a smile I said, “of course.” Then another younger woman asked if the chair that was just taken was available. I said, “that chair is taken, but this one is open.” And so she sat down too. Then the first woman’s friend arrived and sat at the table too.
So now, we have a wonderful little mix at our table of four. The friends are chatting away, the other woman is playing with her smartphone, and I am working on a project.
