As I begin the first week of the cleanse, I am a bit hungry. Volunteering at the food bank this week reminded me that there is always someone hungrier. We sorted hard and soft miscellaneous items, which are those items that do not fit into one of the other categories, into plastic bags with two soft and one hard item.
It is interesting to see what people donate. There were a lot of spices, salt, ramen, crackers and popcorn. It will certainly make me think twice about what I donate in the future as I want somebody to be able to enjoy a meal not just an item.
The group today was inspired to make the bags have items that made sense together. We called them recipes.
Here are some of the recipes that we created in the bags of miscellaneous goods:
Crackers and soup
Hot cocoa and marshmallows
Tea and cookies
Bean soup and cornbread
Tuna and crackers
Cookies and soy milk
Brownies and anything
Pancake mix and syrup
Note to self: bring cleanse approved snack for volunteering next week as those brownies looked incredibly delicious.
