Valentine’s day is a day filled with high expectations. We have often gone out to enjoy a meal together and left feeling disappointed by the quality of the food even at some of our favorite restaurants.
This year given our look to save costs where we can while still enjoying quality, I was inspired to prepare our meal at home.
Martha Stewart kept me pretty inspired this month apparently as she also inspired this meal. She had a recipe for rack of lamb that looked like I might enjoy it. Lamb is not exactly high on my list of foods, but my husband enjoys it. I have never made it before for us.
When I got to the store they had sweetheart rib eye steaks, which looked too cute to resist. What’s not to love about a heart shaped steak? I changed the menu on the spot doing a simple substitute for a pan seared rib eye in place of the lamb, but kept the mustard sauce.
Our menu in pictures and links to recipes:
- Chile Raspberry Martini from the Little Pink Book of Cocktails
- Plateau de Fruits de Mer with Two Sauces
- Pan-Seared Sweetheart Rib Eye with Mustard Sauce
- Roasted Fennel and Artichoke Hearts
- Chocolate Pots de Creme and Bananas Foster Parfait
It was one of the best evenings to enjoy at home.
