There is nothing like a night of “car camping” to jump start a beautiful Yosemite vacation. After finishing all of the baking, I was a little over zealous to get up to Yosemite, so we left before we confirmed that we could actually get into the house. We arrived after midnight to discover that the house was very well secured. Thankfully we had practice on our recent European adventure for how to sleep in seats rather than an air mattress, sleeping back or even a bed – those things were safely at home, of course.
We actually slept okay all things considered, but the best part was waking up and getting out of the car to smell that fresh mountain air. Incredible.
Since it was going to be a few hours until we could get into the house, we headed down to Wawona to enjoy breakfast and golfing. The breakfast was over the top in portion and decadence.
There is nothing quite like golfing in Yosemite surrounded by all of those gorgeous trees. After the lightening storm during our drive, we were excited that the weather had cleared for a round of golf. D played on his own. I was his caddy, which as it turns out may be my favorite way to play golf.
After meeting up with our friend, we headed down for some much needed river time. The weather was hot and the river was the perfect fix.
