Blogtember Day 6. Describe a distinct moment when your life took a turn.
A wise yoga teacher in our yoga program shared something that has become a mantra in our house “trust the path you are on, all is well.” Sometimes when you have no idea why a series of events are happening, if you can just trust the path then…all is well.
I could not get the full day off work, so I planned to head up Friday solo. D could leave a bit earlier, so he planned to head up to Yosemite on Thursday morning. We did not think it was a good idea to take his car as the battery was limping along, so we planned for me to use a free weekend rental that we had gotten many moons ago from Enterprise when they ran out of cars and loaned him a panel van that broke down in epic form on the freeway.
D left bright and early Thursday morning and when I got in his car to head to work, his car would not start. The battery had been limping along for 3 weeks for him, refused to start for me. The dead battery led to picking up the rental car a day early as I now had to get to work. Instead of walking to pick up the car at 7:30 on Friday morning when Enterprise opened, I was able to get a ride from them since I was after 8am. Then when they walked me out to my rental car, she said the only car ready this early was convertible – upgrade yahoo!
Clearly, Enterprise was also a much better experience this time.
Initially, I was a little nervous to have such a long solo drive, but it led to lengthy conversations with two besties and sister. When do you ever have that much time to just chat?
Phone reception died out right before perfect spot to put the top down.
Rental car had XM radio awesome rocking out driving on fabulous stretches of road into the park on a whole new way due to the fires.
Leaving later from work gave me the perfect sunset view. (will share photo on Facebook later)
Lumineeers finished out set of music and we see them in a few weeks.
I arrived early enough to make the base for the cupcakes. The only muffin tin available was a mini muffin tin, which solved the problem of the mix only making 10 cupcakes when there are a heck of a lot more people and usually make a large cake.
Best of all arriving Friday night, gave me a chance to have an amazing conversation with someone who went back to med school at 34, which shows that those things we think may not be possible may in fact be possible. Everything happens for a reason, we just may not know that reason in the moment.
