The thing about goodbyes is that they are never easy, so D and I prefer to say “see you next time.” It makes goodbyes feel somehow less permanent.
On my Bay Area, see you next time list was Sushi Sam’s Edomata in San Mateo. It is single-handedly our favorite sushi place ever and we like our sushi. We used to go regularly, but we started to cut back on our dining out expenses which meant our visits to see Sam became less frequent.
After our big Phoenix adventure last weekend, we were both tuckered out on Wednesday. Thursday we turned it around and D surprised me by asking if I wanted to go on an impromptu date to Sam’s after my massage. Ummm, duh, of course!
Sam introduced us to some super inventive sushi over the years and if you are ever in for a splurge night, then you must try his Omakase menu aka Chef’s Choice Sushi. He selects which sushi to serve you and be sure to NOT dip it in soy sauce as each plate comes already adorned with a perfectly paired sauce.
Since we have dined so much, our sushi always comes in the Omakase-style. Last night we enjoyed so much deliciousness.
And then there were the socks on the trees and posts in San Mateo. We are still not sure why, but it appeared to be for the holidays.
