I was trying to figure out what to write as it has been well, busy. Then I read a blog from one of my favorite bloggers (The Well-Traveled Wife) about her life lately and I knew just how to tackle sharing our life lately – in a blog of photos.
We tried to get into The Vig Uptown on a Saturday night, but the wait was too long for our tastes. On Monday night after getting pedicures at a not so great place, we headed to The Vig Arcadia and discovered Mondays are $5 burger nights, so duh, of course we both got burgers. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks as it was happy hour.
Our first Thai restaurant experience was less than stellar as in I ate a few bites and not much more. I was disheartened as Thai food is one of our favorites. During the break between classes at the Arizona School of Real Estate & Business, I decided to give Thai food another go and thankfully discovered Malee’s. We just ate the leftover Tom Ka Gai for a snack today and D was definitely impressed.
We needed to get the windows in D’s car tinted, so I offered to handle while he was on a business trip. When I made the appointment, I asked the service advisor if it would be possible to get an X1. As I pulled into the dealer, I noticed that there was an orange X1 in the sales pick-up area and thought someone was very lucky. After he checked in D’s car, the service advisor said that he had set aside an X1 for me and it matched my purse. We walked around to the orange X1! Score! D got home last night and I still have the loaner due to an issue with the tires. He joked that pretty soon Chapman BMW is going to start holding his car hostage. Ummm, yah he pretty much knows that I really, really, really want this car.
Our life is a little unsettled right now what with still living in the corporate apartment that we expected to leave at the end of February. Oh and our stuff is now sitting on a moving van in California as our Bay Area house closed escrow back on 3/14/4. For me, it has been about finding the little creature comforts to make me feel settled. When I drove out, I brought some of my cooking tools. One of the revelations has been how much I enjoy having my cookbooks on display.
As we get acclimated to Phoenix, I am always on the lookout for fun, free activities. Yesterday, I checked out two events. The Home Depot held a Spring Made Simple event yesterday at their Glendale store. They said they would be giving information about gardening in this area. Since I will likely be a Phoenix homeowner very soon, I thought this would be a great event to check out.
They had terracotta pots that you could decorate, plant a succulent, and then take home.
The event was super fun! They had delicious food and fun mocktails too.
The people at D’s work have been super nice. When I say nice, I mean above and beyond in helping us feel settled. One of his co-workers gave him two free tickets to the Scottsdale Home & Garden Show. Since he was out of town until Saturday night, I went solo to get ideas for our new home.
Per my bestie, my food life is amazing. Granted I love food, cooking and eating it. Not to leave things out, our life lately has included a lot of food. Trying new places and going back to new favorites.
Since I was making Giada’s crispy chicken with rosemary-lemon salt, I decided to make a little extra of the salt to give as thank you gifts to people that have helped us.
Since our first pedicure experience was a fail, I decided to ask our realtor for a referral. He lives in the area where we are purchasing a home and happily shared where his fiance gets her nails done. This place reminded me of my favorite place back home, definite do over!
One of my new favorites is Lux Central and I got to share it with my good friend this week.
We don’t have Directv right now, so we are getting to know our AppleTV very well. Today I showed D how we can play our entire music library. It has been a bit of an adventure as we have a wide variety of music.
And the biggest thing about our life lately is that we are now in ESCROW! Super excited for this possibility to settle down in Phoenix.
