For this week’s take me back Thursday, I ventured back to our trip down the California coast when we announced to our families that we would move to Phoenix in 2014.
We took the slow road down for this road trip and headed down Hwy 1 thru Big Sur, where we were so fortunate to stay at the Post Ranch Inn for the first time. This incredible property had been on my bucket list for more than a few years and thanks to the generosity of my employer at the time, we were able to indulge by staying at the Inn on our way to Southern California.
The photos only barely scratch the surface of the experience of staying at the Post Ranch Inn. They truly think of every detail. Thankfully, we had some advice from friends that had stayed there before as well as a tour that we had taken of the property after enjoying the view at the Sierra Mar roof top terrace the year before.
While you may think of saving it for anniversary, perhaps just save it for a really special memory. We dream of heading back to this magical place. In fact, I have so many wonderful photos from our experience that this may be worthy of two take me back posts.
We rented an incredibly small car for the drive, which made packing interesting…
The view from our room as the sun was setting was the perfect way to welcome ourselves to the property and the tranquility.
We knew the sun would set fast, so we dashed out quickly to catch the best view from the hot tub and enjoy the complementary half-bottle of wine.
The next day we enjoyed the property with an adventure run and later yoga class before making our way to a magical sunset above the clouds.
For dinner on our 2nd night, we enjoyed Sierra Mar which is an incredible dining experience for breakfast (hello amazing included deliciousness) to the backpack lunch to the gourmet dinner.
There is even a beautiful fire pit that we sat near.
The morning of our departure left us with the most majestic light thru the leaves of the trees and certainly left us wanting to come back for this experience.
Can you get any better than this view for breakfast?
Big Sur we will most certainly be back.
