Back in February, I planned a trip to the Bay Area, which I called home from 17 to 34. For a variety of reasons, I was compelled to make a journey to my former home to fill myself up with love from my core tribe.
There was not a set plan to this weekend just an arrival and departure booked up until a week ago. I struggled with where to stay as Sunday nights seemed to be pricier. Then just days before I left, I saw a great rate for the Courtyard by Marriott, Redwood City. Unbeknownst to me, the property opened just 5 days before my arrival. It would not surprise me if I am the first person that has stayed in this room. The interior design and architecture are stunning and have me brainstorming future design projects around my home.
I love the combination of rich wood details with grey walls and white accents. They really innovated storage as well. Overall, I am very impressed with the hotel and the locations and would definitely stay here again.
Friday, I enjoyed a lunch with a bestie at Mayfield Bakery. It was a delicious treat on a beautiful day. She gifted me the book When breath becomes air, which I have been wanting to read for awhile.
Plus, I got to shop a little bit as I had packed completely wrong and a friend encouraged me to splurge a little bit in a treat yourself mentality. It is fun to shop for what feels good.
I picked up Cuisinett for dinner to join a friend and her son. Merlin and F had the best time. Kids and puppies are just the cutest ever.
Saturday I went for a glorious hike with a girlfriend. Merlin loved the trails and we delighted in great conversation.
In the afternoon, I headed to my favorite Burlingame and Hillsdale before meeting up with another girlfriend for happy hour. I finished off the night enjoying the community tables at Johnston Salt Box, which was a welcome treat at the end of the day.
Sunday, I met up with some of DB’s friends for a hike around the Baylands and it was lots of fun. I love watching Merlin play with kids. His inner “Dash” came out again and he ran FAST.
Photos not in order this time or edited just snapshots of a great weekend outdoors.
