Choosing the healthiest choice is not always easy.
Knowing it is the right choice also not easy.
Last weekend in San Diego, I made the choice not to see someone who had become a meaningful part of my life. It was a hard choice yet it was also the right choice.
The weight of a big decision is that people are bound to fall out of your life. It happens. Maybe that is what makes a big decision take longer, the knowing that you will lose people you love and who probably also love you.
Somehow it is akin to political debates in that some people will stick to party lines as they are party lines while others will see the grey and want to seek out the grey area to keep in touch with both sides.
Adulting is the hardest part of all of this. The desire to live this decision with as much grace as possible in the face of it being the biggest, hardest thing that I have ever done.
That’s the weight of it.
