Sore and bruised are the signs of a well spent vacation getting in some serious exercise, so I am heading back to Phoenix today a very happy woman. For the last 7 days, I ran 3 miles every day with Merlin. We ran from my Gma’s house to the beach and then ran on the beach barefoot (me) most of the days.
If you have never run thru waves barefoot with a happy dog, I highly recommend it. 😉 The weather was perfection. Some mornings were a little warm, so the splashing of the cool waves felt extra delicious.
We finished our runs sprinting on the beach to the end of the road near the Shores Hotel, then we would walk to Shoreline Cafe for either a to go coffee and a sweet treat or sitting to enjoy breakfast.
After trying to go paddle on the 4th in Mission Bay and failing to find parking, I discovered that the best SUP was actually right in the Shores.
One day I paddled from the Shores to the Caves. Yesterday, I brought my 96 yr old Gma with me as she wanted to watch me paddle. She’s a beach lover like me, so it was awesome to see her so happy enjoying time sitting on the beach.
When I boogie boarded on Friday, the waves were small, which was not conducive to good boogie boarding. Of course, yesterday the waves were bigger and the ocean was choppier, which meant that I wiped out once way out in the ocean and again riding a wave into the shore.
I went to sit next to my Gma and we chatted a minute before she asked if I was going to go out again. Apparently she enjoyed watching me, so of course I obliged and went out again. It was such fun to show her something I enjoy so much. I love having my own inflatable SUP. It makes it so easy to decide on a whim that I want to get out on the water.
