While I always enjoy cooking for others, recently my world has been been forever changed by someone cooking with joy for me. Sometimes we cook together, but often he cooks while I watch, and taste test of course. My love language has been food for better part of the last 16 years. Food made with joy and love quite simply tastes better.
Yesterday, I celebrated my first birthday post divorce. It was an incredible day. Unlike my anniversary day in August, this was a day where someone else guided my plans and took care of most of the details.
My class pass at Elevate Yoga was due to expire on my birthday. With just one class left on my pass, I decided it was meant to be used on my birthday. After a leisurely morning at home, I enjoyed an aerial yoga class. It was my first time practicing a full class since spraining my ankle in September. While I was not able to do everything, I really enjoyed getting back to class.
Then we headed to The Covenant for brunch where we enjoyed their corned beef hash and a seasonal pop-tart. We like something savory with something sweet. 🙂
We spent the afternoon watching football at OHSO before heading to my neighbors for a birthday dinner. Like me, he prefers to prepare food ahead, so he lovingly prepared most the dinner the day before.
While we intended to share the meal with our neighbors at home, we opted to head to my neighbors to enjoy watching football.
Last nights meal included: French onion soup, croquette with ham and gruyere, and a salade niçoise as well as some of my caramelized onion yogurt dip aka crack dip for those of you that have not tried it.
Then my neighbors surprised me with a yummy chocolate cake. As my dear friends say: “life is better with chocolate cake.”
