Last year I ate many meals out. While I cooked like a champ for years, the bouts of sadness and a lack of feeling appreciated over the last 5 years made me lose the joy of cooking. It would come in bouts like sadness where I would find the ability to create meals, but it was not consistent.
During the last month, I found myself inspired to cook again, inspired to find new recipes to try and create delicious food again. It is quite different to cook when everything you make is appreciated fully.
This week I made two different meals with a signature cocktail to start the evening. It is so much fun to feel good in the kitchen again. Eating at home more yet still eating what most would consider restaurant quality food.
A few of the meals lately:
Mezcal-Cured Beef Fillet with Cumin Cauliflower Puree and Arbol Steak Butter from Elote Cafe with a side of Sauteed Kale with Garlic
Steak Diane 2018 with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Sauteed Spinach with Garlic (notice a garlicky theme?) . (oops, no photos)
Mixed Lettuce Salad with Parmigiano and Jamon Iberico (made with parmesan crips instead of just shaved parmesan) and a Raspberry, Cucumber and Mint Smash (totally great as a mocktail too!)
Finding joy in cooking again is so much fun.
