This time of year is always a bit bittersweet. My birthday is next week and nearly 7 years ago my father lost his battle with lung cancer. Those two events are forever intertwined. Two weeks before he died and just before my 25th birthday, I saw him in his amazing joie de vivre for the last time.
Less than two weeks later, I would fly to San Diego to see him in a coma and watch him pass from this world to the next.
This week the death of a cultural savant, Steve Jobs, makes us ever more aware that we need to find a cure for cancer. Money, though it can buy so much, simply cannot buy health.
