With this chilly, wet weather, it feels like soup season has finally arrived. One of our favorite soups is French onion soup.
Unfortunately, this has been one of the hardest soups to find a decent, restaurant quality recipe. Last year we purchased little crocks from Toque Blanche in Half Moon Bay as I thought maybe the issue was in how I was serving it. I thought the bowls would make the cheese melt even better in the oven.
We came close to a good recipe last year with a recipe by Melissa D’Arabian, but I was on the hunt for something even better, something that could capture the flavor of the bistro just around the corner from the hotel on Paris.
