So back to my answer, yes, I really did want to be a pediatric oncologist. Sounds a bit intense when I say it now, but I vividly recall writing my college entry essay about the passion with which I wanted to be a pediatric oncologist. It was something that I had known for many years.
I was an avid read growing up, well I still enjoy reading, but as a child I spent many an afternoon reading. One of my favorite series was by Lurlene McDaniel. My mom coined the series my “death and dying books.” And it is true that Ms. McDaniel captured many a young life impacted by very serious illnesses, commonly a childhood cancer.
